Passing parms to query upon execution

In Orion Report Writer, I'm wanting to create several custom queries that will accept a date range entered by user upon execution. Yes, Report Designer does allow a specific time frame to be entered in design mode, but I'm wanting to avoid having to access Report Designer each time a report is executed. An example would be a query that reports the percentage of node downtime for a specific period of time. This report may need to be ran several time per year with a different date ranges each time. Does Report Designer provide the capability to create a custom query that will accept paramaters entered by user upon execution? Any assistance with this would be very much appreciated! Thanks
